God Moments

November 10, 2017

I am very blessed.  I remind myself of this often when I’m not really feeling so blessed.  We talked about contentment in Pastor Shyloe’s bible study this week.  Truly I own much more than I need.  I have plenty of clothes, food, a roof over my head, a vehicle, and the security of a job. So why do I sometimes think what would I do if I had unlimited resources and then I dream big, really big! The scripture says, Where your heart is, there will be your treasure.  Where is my heart?  Is it in counting my blessings or counting what I don’t have?  I find that when I keep God in the center of my life by focusing on Him, I find contentment in all things of my life.  Relationships flow easier.

Finances work out.  Church life is a pleasure.  God is good and life is good.

If I want my life to balance I need to let God take the center!  There lies the rub.  I tend to take control and chose not to let God lead.  I am getting better at turning the my into the Thy, but I often fail miserably. If this sounds like a confession, it is!  I must confess my sinful self and rely on Gods grace and mercy to find contentment, peace and joy.  As we complete our Stewardship month in October, God has spoken to me about my financial giving but more importantly about my spiritual giving for God to know God.  Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Giving.

Luke 12:34  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  NASB

Thanksgiving Prayer

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
