Psalms Say What?!?!

Pastor’s Bible Study is Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the Faith classroom. Fall 2017 the adult class will study Psalms: Managing Our Emotions. This 12 week bible study will help us think about emotions as they are on glorious display in the Psalms. Nursery is provided as well as Children and Youth running at the same time!

Emotions are complex and sometimes mystifying. Even the best counselors and pastors will tell you that there is no clear answer for why we have the feelings we have. Sometimes we are so unused to naming them that they come out as physical symptoms. The Psalms display the range of human emotion and shine light on how we can interact with God from any emotional place. Anger, for instance, is not a sin, but Jesus warns not to sin in our anger. Joy is what most of us want to feel, but in the midst of grief, illness, or confusion can’t seem to locate it.

However, the Psalms say, “This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety, He is my God and I trust him.” (91:2, NLT). These words remind us that no matter what happens in our lives, God has invited us to be faithful with our emotional response. Join us this week!
