God Moments
Facilitating a bible study at Oak Forrest Nursing Home was a challenge for me. It’s not that I lacked a
genuine love for the residents. I’ve been nurturing relationships at the nursing home for 2 years. It
was my fear I would fail in having something pertinent and helpful to share in the study time. God
encouraged me to quench that fear and dive in. Now three sessions in, I am humbled by the blessing I
have received by being a disciple. As I study the material, God reveals Himself to me. Challenges my
ideas. When our group discusses the material, I hear such marvelous stories of God’s grace, mercy
and healing. God has even reconnected a relationship with a friend that has a loved one in the
nursing home. My friend comes to the bible study to be with her husband a former pastor with
dementia. When it see the light in his eyes when God’s truth penetrates his spirit I am amazed. When
our church members provided large print bible, the recipients were moved by the gesture. Those
bibles are a symbol of our love in motion. Don’t be afraid to commit to the task God has for you, big
or small. God will not let His plan fail! God will not let you fail!
The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not
fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed Deuteronomy 31:8 NASB
Heavenly Father, Give us courage to move forward in discipleship. Give us a vision of
your fruitful plan as we obey your desire for obedience and trust. Teach us to be like
you. In Jesus name. Amen.
