God Moments

I was visiting my family in Tennessee. My granddaughter, Meadow, age 9 asked me to play Legos. I agreed happily. Easy right? Uh, not so much! My experience from childhood and playing with my children was to free form a structure. I picked out the pieces among literally hundred of tiles to begin. My granddaughter objected. She wanted to make something from a diagram on her play sheet. Her perception of Lego s was different from mine. The pieces I intended to use, she wanted for her project. Her idea was that I hand her what she needed and watch her build. My idea was to be left alone to create. Neither of us was happy! What should have been a binding experience turned into a disaster of wills. We still loved each other but we were irritated with each other too.

Sometimes in the life of our church family we find egos, experience, and expectations clash. Those of us who have been around awhile see the benefit of doing things the way we are accustomed. Those new to service in the church may be looking to help with the newest resource or a recent workshop or seminar. Different perceptions. Distracting perceptions. Neither way is right or wrong , but our response can be crushing! It begins with communication. It is not about getting our way, staying in our comfort zone, or trying the newest idea. It s about building the kingdom of God with Christ as the head of the church and our visionary. I wish I could say it is easy but it is not! As with my grandchild, I am still learning. Let s take the yoke together. Let God lead as we push shoulder to shoulder to reap the harvest!

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL

Heavenly Father, Keep my mind set on you. Help me to be soft clay that can mold to your purpose and expectation. Create in me a new heart daily as I rely on you for vision and wisdom. Thank you for reminding me of my purpose and providing peace as I seek your direction. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
